The Subconscious Mechanics of Your Reality
Far too many people live their lives stuck in unhelpful patterns — the same arguments, the same disappointments, the same sense of “how did I end up here again?” Most painfully, we do this with the people we love. What a waste!
If this sounds familiar — even a little bit — and you’d like to change it, there’s a simple (but not easy) key.
Realize this:
You are caught in a unconscious feedback loop, busily living out your mostly-unexamined beliefs about people and the world around you.
More accurately, you are the feedback loop — by virtue of how you show up and what manifests as a result of it. What patterns manifest as a result of it.
Our patterns appear everywhere: in love, in work, in our families, our health, our self-talk. We contribute the same subconscious inputs and get the same predictable, often uncomfortable outputs.
These outputs typically take the form of attitudes, behaviours, and responses (feedback) from people and the world around us to which we object. We want the feedback to be different, we want our experience, and possibly the people involved, to be different — but this feedback is what shows us our deepest truth in action.
The feedback is your mirror, and it reveals your role in the patterns you play out time and time again.
Next, realize this:
All patterns are optional, malleable, and yours.
At their root, your patterns are expressions of belief — your own and other people’s, conscious and unconscious. Many of them you’ve inherited without even realizing it.
Billions of people all over the world have totally different beliefs, and run different patterns — beliefs and patterns that would never have occurred to you, and that you couldn’t know were possible unless you went out looking for them. So go out looking for them.
Literally every different or as-yet-unimaginable belief is an option for you. As an adult and the sole creator of your ongoing story, you get to cobble together your own personal, true-to-you belief system from among a bazillion possibilities — many of which will feel better than the beliefs you hold currently, with more fruitful results (patterns) in your life.
In every moment, we express our patterns (and manifest our realities) by:
Being where we are (there are other places, people, jobs, experiences)
Thinking what we think (there are innumerable paths of thinking and perception)
Immersing ourselves in whatever we immerse ourselves in (there are countless things to see, smell, hear, taste, touch, feel, and exchange energy with)
It’s an all-encompassing extension of the well-known “you are what you eat.” Sometimes you can’t feasibly change what you eat — sometimes life hands you a plate that feels limited or repetitive.
But sometimes you can.
Whatever your situation may be, putting conscious awareness toward your patterns and choices is obviously helpful if you want to manifest a life that feels good to you, with fulfilling relationships and greater purpose.
So: what are your mirrors reflecting back to you? And how does it feel?
And what’s one thing you could easily do in this moment to feel even 1% more however-you-want-to-feel?
Do that thing now. Make that thing manifest right now, and move one step closer to a world that feels good to your soul.
